自然を見つめるグールドの目
グールドの図譜は発行年代で多少感じが異なります。それは年代によって工房の図版の制作者も違いますし、年と共に石版技術や彩色技法の工夫も増してくるからです。したがって一見すると後で出版されたもののほうが美しいのですが、これは仕方のないことで、グールドの図版はそれぞれの年代の最高水準である事には変わりありません。そしてすべての図版が自然を見つめるグールドの目を通して作成されていることで、これが100年をはるかに越えた現在でもなお人々を魅了するのです。
なお、グールドはこれらの図版の他にも多くの学術論文を発表しており、学問的にも偉大な人物であった事を忘れるわけにいきません。
