Purple-throated Carib
Eulampis jugularis

A Monograph of the Trochilidae, or Family of Humming-birds
Vol.2 - Plate No. 82

Length: 12 cm

The Purple-throated Carib is found in the Antilles of Central America. The colours of the male and female birds are the same, but the male's beak is less curved and slightly smaller than the female's. Thus, we can see from this illustration that the bird in the foreground is a female and the one in the background is a male. They are a commonly found bird in their habitat
