A Monograph of the Ramphastidae, or Family of Toucans
Vol.1 - Plate No. 2

Length: 61 cm

The Cuvier's Toucan is a beautiful toucan found in the forests of South America, in the area from Guiana to Bolivia and Brazil. Their large beak, measuring about 18 centimeters, may appear savage, but actually its inside is sponge-like and extremely light. Their diet is mainly berries, and they skillfully pick them one by one with their large beaks. Toucans have feet with two toes facing forwards and two facing backwards.
