The Blue-breasted Wren is a small beautiful bird living in the shrubs of southwest Australia. The male birds have blue heads and backs with red-brown shoulders, but the female are more soberly coloured in dark brown. The "malurus" of their scientific name means "soft-tailed", describing their appearance, and "pulcherrimus" means "the most beautiful (bird)."
